Chair- Shelby Romeo

My name is Shelby Romeo. I am 28-years old, 8-years in recovery from opioid use, 4-years’ experience with non-profit Board of Directors positions and community outreach program coordination, and over 6-years’ experience with upper management and interprofessional structure. Currently, an active sitting President for two non-profit harm-reduction and outreach centered organizations. I am a sophomore in an undergraduate Psychology degree program with a major in Addiction. I bring in-depth experience maneuvering the criminal justice system, fulfilling exemption process requisites, steps for societal reintegration, and overcoming barriers transitioning back into the community with a criminal record. I have multiple certifications in subjects targeting outreach support. I bring various networking resources needed for community partnerships and likeminded organizations throughout the state of Florida. I bring a “full of life” approach to the world of substance abuse, mental health, and homelessness outreach work and my passion and dedication has always spoken for itself. I have specialized in programs for family functioning assessments development of treatment plans, early childhood and adolescent intervention techniques, risk factor damage control, and case management for peer services; both in schooling programs and direct volunteer services. I thrive on a cohesive workplace, team building exercises, interpersonal communication strength, and excelling. My top strengths are influential teamwork, organizational specifics, attention to detail, and evolving goal setting. My career goals include, but are not limited to, supervising case management, director of operations, crisis stabilization specialist/coordinator, and eventually a founder for an outreach organization hyper focusing on substance abuse and implementation of harm-reduction education for communities. I commit to continuing to bring fresh ideas for the betterment of communities, uphold constant drive and dedication for a continuous growth in work ethic, and to training and inspiring others in any way they need!
