Recovery Support Services

Recovery Support Evaluation – Our staff evaluates and documents an individual’s recovery support service needs, develops a comprehensive individual recovery support plan, and monitors progress on achievement of goals and objectives.
Care Coordination Services – Our staff assists participants with substance use struggles and with access to wrap around services to support sustained recovery. These services may include legal assistance, housing, employment, health and medical services, and other services to eliminate barriers to successful recovery.
Recovery Coaching and Mentoring – Our Peers assist participants in assessing their current situation, defining their personal goals, and targeting areas for improvement. Participants are supported in creating an effective life-action plan and in understanding factors that may increase relapse risks and in overcoming barriers that may inhibit the recovery process. Participants are also being assisted in obtaining the necessary life-skills to become productive members of their communities.
Life Skills Support – Our staff provides one-on-one support to develop skills to equip participants with skills needed to succeed in day-to-day life using a peer based/participant centered model. It consists of non-clinical services that help develop skill in managing life circumstances such as health education, anger management, parenting, and child development.
Education Support Services – Our staff provides one-on-one instruction expanding participants knowledge base in substance use relapse prevention strategies, employment preparation, reading comprehension and writing, and other social skills to promote healthy living.
Group Support Services – Our staff provides group instruction focusing on participants knowledge base in specific topic areas such as (WRAP) Wellness Recovery Action Planning, life skills, WHAM Whole Health Action Planning, All Recovery, CA groups, employment preparation, money management, health, and family reunification.
Supported Employment – Research strongly supports the critical impact employment plays in promoting recovery. Consumers of behavioral health services want to work and can maintain employment if they are given proper support and guidance. Shining Light works to collaborate with local businesses and nonprofit organizations to hire consumers of behavioral health services and provides ongoing support.
Supported Housing – Decent, safe, and affordable housing contributes to mental well-being. Shining Light works to find housing for every participant. Our goal is to support the highest functional living arrangement and independence appropriate to the consumer.
Outreach and Advocacy – Shining Light promotes recovery and wellness through many avenues of outreach in our community. To learn more about our outreach and advocacy work please reach out to us at 386-530-2575

people who use drugs, especially people who use heroin or fentanyl
people who have previously experienced a drug overdose
people entering, enrolled or being discharged from substance use disorder treatment services
people on waitlists or call back lists to receive substance use treatment
people with a history of opioid use
people receiving recovery support services
people who inject drugs
people without stable housing or experiencing homelessness
people re-entering the community from jail or prison
family members, friends or others who know someone at risk of opioid overdose and are likely to witness an overdose

The Way Forward

Our mission is to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus among people experiencing homelessness while mitigating its impacts by providing Outreach and Peer Navigation (case management) services to individuals and families.

Our vision is to eliminate the spread of coronavirus and the economic impacts our community faces through advocacy, education, outreach, and support services.

The Homeless Outreach and Advocacy Project is a place of safety and support for all participants. Our pledge is to lead with compassion and make bold changes to break down barriers to housing. We work with community stakeholders to build a community that ensures all people have an opportunity to receive support and services while being validated, respected, and honored.
